Last day with the dancing queen

the day started with curlers and Xenon, girl of the 21st century. (Good old Disney Channel has been with us every step of the way here this week...)

then, my mom took us to lunch!! (yay, free lunch for me.) we did a worksheet of fun math problems.

...they didn't stay fun for long.

9 + 4 + 8 is not "jungle gym."
silly goose.

We made a caterpillar boa out of big fat pom poms and googly eyes.

She made up this craft herself after finding this big daisy thing on the ground in the parking lot. (wow that's great emily. no, don't put it in your mouth.)

"This would make a good decoration for a shirt. No, a bracelet!!!!!!! A bracelet!! Please Megan, help me make a bracelet."

I filled up a box of crap for her to dig through.
ribbons
buttons
charms
chipboard
felt
paper
pom poms
...whatever.

she sat for over an hour carefully arranging and gluing and painting and glittering. I finally got some work done in the meantime (this has really been a week off for me...). Then I helped her sew ribbon on the back and we tied it around her wrist in a big fat bow. Ohhhh she was so proud. And so was I!

I'm gonna miss playing with this girl every day! I think that I could skip the whole having a kid thing I could just borrow her a few times each week.

...but maybe we did take the occasion to relax a little now that she's gone :)
