Here is one of my favorite details on the Just Married banner I made for the lovely Gabrielle and her fiance. My best wishes to both of you--You have good taste in flowers, so I'm sure you have great taste in men. ;)

The pinking shears I used came to me by way of my great-great-great-aunt, who died several years ago. I've mentioned a lot of the cool stuff my grandma brought me from her before--a sewing desk, tons of brightly colored vintage thread on wooden spools, and little gadgets and tools like these pinking shears.

Making these details is my favorite part of any project. Picking unusual colors. Rubbing buttons until they shine. Proportionally, I think I spend much more time on the extras, and I pride myself so much on the quality of my product. Since I got those pinking shears a few months ago, I've been cutting my fabric allll up with them. I can't believe how sharp they still are after almost 70 years!! They just don't make em like they used to...
Someday I'll take a good picture of all of the spools of thread I got. There is a TON. And I'm using it!
